When I think about Carol
…an imprint of her presence remains vivid from some time ago.
As a slightly older cousin, we first met when I arrived from Kenya as a raw student at Hull Uni and made frequent visits to my favourite relatives, Jill and Robin, then in Newbald, sometimes babysitting Carol and the boys! My main memory is of the very busy family kitchen and Nick arriving as a newborn and my pride and trepidation at being made one of his godmothers. In later years my path crossed with Carol’s only occasionally, then in the early ‘90s a sweet bond grew between us in south London after Jill died and we met and talked… a lot. I emigrated Down Under and feel loss at falling out of touch and envy of those who spent more time with her, and more recently.
I send heartfelt love to Carol’s created family, who I sadly never met, and to all her very dear Fenton family. I share the loss to this earth garden of a wholehearted, beautiful soul who had such a talent for fun and friendship and so generously nurtured all around her. Centering her life with quiet purpose around what’s ultimately of most value, she will shine always as a bright and smiling star.
